Q: How does the holder attach to the car?
A: The permit holder is designed to attach using the license plate screws already a part of the car and extends out beside the license plate. No additional parts are needed and the only tool needed is a screwdriver.
Q: How sturdy is the permit holder?
A: The holder is made of a weather-resistant metal alloy designed to hold up to wear and tear.
Q: Will it scratch the paint?
A: Properly installed, the holder does not come in contact with the paint and will not damage the car. It hovers just a slight distance away from the actual bumper. Some users mentioned they added a felt or silicone bumper to the back, like the kind you use on cabinet doors, if their license plate frame is pushing the holder closer to the car.
Q: How does it compare to the acrylic DIY's and 3D printed plastics?
A: This holder is a patented design proven to work with the EV cars listed, and hold up to regular use. It is not brittle and does not deteriorate in the sun and weather changes.
Q: What is the size of the Maryland HOV holder?
A: The mount is sized to hold the standard Maryland HOV permit measuring 4 1/8 inches square. The mount is just shy of 1 millimeter larger than the sticker on each side to give you a little leeway when sticking it to the holder and for slight machining tolerances that may occur during manufacturing.
Q: Can it be installed on either the right side or left side of the license plate?
A: Yes! You can install it on either side of the license plate - the left side or the right side. In fact, you can install one on each side of the license plate if you have multiple permits to display (HOV, Apartment, Parking, etc).
Q: Does it come with a license plate frame, like the Model 3 frame in the picture?
A: No, it does not include a license plate frame. The holder is separate from the frame. Frames are a personal choice of the driver, so I designed it to work with all kinds of frames and it fits either behind the frame or, if the frame has tabs on the back, it slides into the tabs.
Q: Will it work with other makes of cars, other than those listed above?
A: Yes, if your car has the space on either side of the license plate that is large enough to hold the permit, it will work on your car.
Q: Is the permit holder removable? Can someone steal it?
A: To remove the holder, you have to remove the license plate from the car, which deters theft. Once the actual permit sticker is affixed to the holder, the sticker is permanently affixed to the holder, but the holder itself is not permanently attached to the car.
Q: When will the order ship?
A: Orders usually ship within 3 - 5 business days. During PayPal checkout, you can choose your shipping method. If you choose Standard Domestic it will ship USPS First Class/Ground Advantage with Tracking arriving in 3 to 5 days, Priority will ship USPS Priority Mail arriving in 1 to 2 days, and Ground will ship UPS Ground arriving in 1 day to most locations in Maryland. If you are near Historical Ellicott City, you can arrange for pickup, just email [email protected] to coordinate. You will receive a tracking number when it is shipped and you can track the package. Once the package is accepted by USPS or UPS, we do not have any control over the delivery.

Q: What does the asterisk * mean beside some of the models listed?
These are cars that I know only use the top two screws to mount the holder. The asterisk reminds me to include a piece of Gorilla Glue industrial outdoor double-sided tape to optionally use in lieu of the bottom plate screw to mount the holder to the plate (not to the car!).

Both versions look the same when viewed as a bystander; what changed is the shape that is hidden behind the license plate and the thickness of the material.
